Character Information~ [ Series ] –Onimusha [ Character’s Name ] –Tenkai Nankobo/Hidemitsu Samanosuke Akechi [ Character’s Element ] – Air & Holy [ Teacher or Student? ] – Teacher: Staff Weapon, Swordplay, & Air Elemental (also assists/subs wherever he may be needed) [ Character Profile ] – Tenkai Nankobo is a samurai-turned-priest who was given the power of the Oni clan in the form of a magical gauntlet which allows him to absorb the souls of fallen demons and equip various weapons charged with elemental energy, and tasked with the defeat the demons (known as Genma). Better known as Samanosuke Akechi, the circumstances of his birth (location, exact date) are unknown, but he was once a samurai in service to the Saito clan of Mino province (now Gifu Prefecture). A struggle for leadership in the clan saw Samanosuke separate himself from the clan and travel the world, effectively becoming a ronin, but eventually became a man with a mission to protect the world from the Genma. Even though Tenkai is in his sixties (62 to be precise), he still looks amazingly young (save for his hair which has turned white), thanks to the mystic energy of the Oni-Gauntlet. [ Appearance ] – Standing at 5' 10" (1.78 m), the Ogre Power that runs through Samanosuke's body has helped him maintain his youthful appearance, however, any boyishness has since evolved into a cool, somewhat reticent demeanor that has now become his trademark. Typically favoring armor in shades of black and red, in this strange new setting he now dresses in whatever is practical, though he makes no real effort to hide the Oni-Gauntlet that covers his right arm--from which he is rarely, if ever, parted. [ Personality ] –Though Samanosuke is a tacitum man of integrity, there isn't a demon who doesn't fear his cold, masterful skills with a blade and Shakujo staves. Often percieved as a passionless soldier and an unwavering priest, because of his quiet ways, he is actually a hot-blooded warrior with a noble sense of justice. [ History ] –Under the name of Hidemitsu Samanosuke Akechi, Nankobo Tenkai had his beginnings as a wandering Samurai but eventually became a man with a mission to protect the world from Demons know as the Genma--quite often seen as one of if not greatest heroes during the Oni/Genma war--being the first one to become a True Onimusha Warrior in his final confrontation with Nobunaga. As a wandering ronin, Samanosuke was a master swordsman who traveled across the world, seeking his rival. During these travels he encountered and befriended the female ninja Kaede, who became his partner and confidant. Over the next 4 to 5 years they both develop trust, honor, respect and deep feelings of love for each other--and eventually returned with Kaede to assist his uncle, Akechi Mitsuhide, in an absolute secrecy. For the next 9 years Samanosuke and Kaede traveled all over Japan, slaying Genma wherever they were found. Finally ascending the path to Buddhism and taking the name of Tenai Nankobo, he played important part in aiding a new generation of Onimusha in stopping the Gemna King Fortinbras, unable and unwilling to die until his mission was complete and the gaunlet's powers had been sealed away for good. It was on this final journey that Nankobo Tenkai was met with a mysterious summons to impart his wisdom to the young men of Dusk Academy and was compelled to answer...pulled by tricks of magic and science into an alternate dimention not his own time. [ Pets ] – A Tengu spririt named Arin Ako whose appearance is that of a pixie with crow-wings. Ako is a member of the Crow Tengu clan that has supported the Ogre tribe since ancient times. In human form, though only 30cm high, she can assist in battle, and even travel through space and time to assist in the communication between the future and the past. She possesses a telepathic ability that allows her to understand any language through feeling. [ Other ? ] – As a monk, Tenkai primarily fights with staff weapons called Shakujo, but he is first and foremost a master of the blade. May also use bow & arrow or firearms. Samanosuke's Weapons include: * Tenso (lit. Heaven Pair Edges) are twin swords that are empowered by a divine light * Kūga (lit. Sky Fang Blade) is a long nodachi that emits air magic * Chigo (lit. Earth Shake Axe) is a giant earth-elemental axe that brings forth lava * Bishamon Sword (bishamonten no yaiba) is the ultimate sword bearing the name of the God of War * Onimusha Sword (Onimusha shinken) is the sword carried by Samanosuke Akechi in his ultimate form. * Genma Samonji is the ultimate weapon created by fusing the Onimusha Sword with the dark energy that unleashed from Nobunaga's sword. It has crimson energy surrounding it with an orb of the same color. * Raizan (lit. Thunder Slash Blade) is the lightning-elemental katana. * Enryuu (Flame Dragon Sword) is the fire-elemental broadsword. * Shippuu (lit. Gale Blade) is the wind-elemental naginata. | |||||
